Jeramiah Howard
Interim Coroner for Hinds County

Jeramiah Howard was officially sworn into office today as the Interim Coroner for Hinds County.
In December 2024, the Hinds County Board of Supervisors announced Howard as its choice to replace longtime Coroner Sharon Grishman Stewart, who retired December 31, 2024.
Board President Robert Graham recommended Howard for the position.
"The county needs someone that will be ready on day one and that person is Jeramiah Howard," said Graham. "This office cannot afford to miss a beat."
Howard previously served as deputy medical examiner investigator/deputy coroner in the coroner's office. He has also led the volunteer Fire Department in Pocahontas, MS.
Howard will serve in this role until an election is held later this year.
