Hinds County Announces Free, Beginner-Friendly Digital Literacy & Broadband Adoption Training

Residents can choose from three-hour classes offered August 28–September 11 at locations throughout Hinds County.

JACKSON, Miss. - August 26, 2026 - The Hinds County Board of Supervisors is inviting residents to take advantage of FREE, beginner-friendly Digital Literacy & Broadband Adoption Training designed to help people build skills, gain confidence, and better connect to opportunities in today's digital world.

Classes will be offered on select dates from August 28 through September 11 at various Hinds County locations, including Bolton, Edwards, Pocahontas, and Raymond/Utica. Participants only need to choose one three-hour class session.

The classes are designed to provide practical, everyday skills that residents can immediately put to use. Training will include using computers and devices, email, accessing government and community services, job and workforce resources, telehealth, internet safety, cybersecurity and scams, understanding internet plans and costs, equipment and connectivity, and basic technology troubleshooting.

There is no cost to participate, and the training is beginner-friendly.

Your Voice, Our Priority

The initiative is about more than teaching technology skills. Hinds County also wants to hear directly from residents about the challenges that may prevent them from fully benefiting from broadband service.

Participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences with issues such as internet affordability, device access, digital skills, internet reliability, and other barriers to broadband adoption.

The feedback received will help Hinds County identify and address barriers and help shape future programs and investments so residents can access, afford, use, and benefit from broadband service.

Communities interested in hosting a training session are also encouraged to contact the program.
